Tonal Tinnitus Therapy is the app that can help you to reduce your Tinnitus sounds. It is based on the principles of Acoustic Coordinated Reset Neuromodulation. You only need an Android phone or tablet and a headset (in-ear, on-ear or over-ear). It doesn’t work for everyone, but hopefully it can help you, like it helps many others.
Acoustic Coordinated Reset Neuromodulation
The fundamental idea is straightforward: your tinnitus tone originates in your brain. The therapy generates four tones close to your main tinnitus tone. Two tones are higher and two tones are lower. These therapy tones are played very fast with very short breaks. This could reset the neurons that produce your Tinnitus tone.
While the scientific research on Acoustic Neuromodulation is limited, your experience is crucial. Tonal Tinnitus Therapy has already proven helpful for others, so it may also benefit you.
Commercial applications providing Acoustic Neuromodulation exist, such as those in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, where the therapy can cost thousands of dollars without a guarantee of effectiveness. In contrast, the Tonal Tinnitus Therapy app is user-friendly, offers a one-week free trial, and involves only a modest one-time fee if you choose to continue using the app.
When does it work, when not?
We are not sure when if it will work for you or not. We expect that it won’t work when your tinnitus is somatic (for example due to JMT). But please give it a try and let us know (there is a ‘contact support’ option in the menu of the app).
Experimental modes
Tonal Tinnitus Therapy offers you besides the Acoustic Neuromodulation therapy, also two experimental modes (available for iOS with version 1.5 or higher).
We’ve introduced experimental modes in response to user requests. These modes, while not covered in scientific research, cater to specific preferences. One experimental mode plays a tone at your tinnitus frequency, a choice appreciated by some users for its perceived ability to dull the tinnitus tone.
The second experimental mode incorporates a tone at your tinnitus frequency alongside the four therapy tones. When you play the therapy tones, a fifth tone at your tinnitus frequency is included.
